About Columbus

Columbus, Ohio's capital and largest city, was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers and planned as the state capital because of its central location. It is the Franklin County seat and also extends into Delaware and Fairfield counties; Franklinton, settled in 1797, is now one of its neighborhoods.
